This Privacy Policy explains how Shelved ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use getshelved.co.uk and our services. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Shelved is a creator storefront platform based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy-related questions, you can contact us at privacy@getshelved.co.uk.
Information we collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: when a creator signs up, we collect their name, email address, chosen handle, and profile details such as bio and photo.
- Shelf content: the products creators add to their shelves, including links, descriptions, and notes.
- Usage data: when someone clicks a product on a creator's shelf, we record anonymous information such as which product was clicked, which retailer it links to, and the time of the click. This allows us to attribute commission to the correct creator.
- Payment information: to pay creators, we use a third-party payment provider (Stripe). Bank account details are provided directly to Stripe and are never stored on our systems.
- Technical data: standard information such as browser type and device, collected to keep the service secure and working correctly.
How we use your information
- To create and manage creator accounts and shelves.
- To track clicks and sales so that commission can be attributed and paid correctly.
- To process payouts to creators.
- To communicate with you about your account and our services.
- To improve and secure the platform.
Legal basis for processing
We process personal data on the basis of performing our contract with creators, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the platform, and your consent where required (for example, certain cookies).
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, to remember your preferences, and — importantly — to attribute affiliate clicks to the correct creator. Affiliate networks we work with may also set cookies when you click through to a retailer, so that purchases can be tracked. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Affiliate links disclosure
Shelved uses affiliate links. When you click a product on a creator's shelf and make a purchase, the retailer may pay a commission, which is shared between the creator and Shelved. This is at no extra cost to you — you pay the same price you would normally. Creators may earn from products they recommend, and we believe in being completely transparent about this.
Who we share data with
We share data only as necessary to run the service:
- Affiliate networks (such as Awin and Amazon Associates) to track and confirm sales.
- Payment providers (such as Stripe) to process creator payouts.
- Infrastructure providers (such as our hosting and database providers) to operate the platform securely.
We never sell your personal data.
Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service and meet our legal obligations. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@getshelved.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
